A Week Off and an Award-Winning Return
Don't have much time to post tonight. Just returned home from a week in North Carolina's Outer Banks with my wonderful family on my wife's side. It was a great time, filled with fun, sun and reflection. It wasn't all hazy and lazy and those fading summer days usually seem to be -- as the equipment manager for a mobile 13-month old, I'd say got quite a workout... :) Watching my little boy walk on the sand for the very first time was quite a thrill. Seems like just yesterday we were hanging out, well, like we are pictured here. And next year, we'll be chasing seagulls.
I came home to some great news as well: I am a three-time Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Ohio state award winner for 2007. In the "Independent Online" category, my feature interview with Nick Kostis, the owner of Pickwick & Frolic, picked up the "Best Business/Tech Story" and my feature interview with West of Jesus author Steven Kotler picked up the "Best Arts/Entertainment Story." Also, CoolCleveland.com picked up the Independent Online Award for "Best General News Site," which makes me proud. The high level of involvement as Managing Editor in writing, editing and constructing Cool Cleveland every week is great -- not even to mention working with and coordinating the fine writers who contribute to the newsletter and site. Because I am certain there is no room for Oscar-length speeches at the luncheon in Columbus next month, I'd just like to offer a personal "thank you" to the judges... it's an honor and I'm very pleased to be in the company of this year's class of great writing talent.
Catch you all during the week,
PCHQ
Awesome news, Peter!!! Congrats.
